Sharing from the Heart

In my series “15 Days of Essentials,” I've talked about the contents of your premium starter kit, from diffuser to NingXia Red and all the oils in between. But before I wrap it up, I want to talk about a very important ingredient–YOU.

Purchasing a kit starts you on the road to wellness. But if you're like me, you get so excited about the possibilities within those eleven little bottles, you want to share it with others. Three items come in the premium starter kit to help you do just that:

  • 10 Sample Packets
  • 10 Love It? Share It! Sample Business Cards
  • 10 Love It? Share It! Sample Oil Bottles

The sample packets allow you to share the scent of the most beloved oils with a friend. The tiny oil bottles are for dropping a few drops of an oil in for someone to try, and then pair it with the sample business card so they know what to do with it.

Don't keep it to yourself. Learn about the uses of the oils, apply them in your life, and help others on the path to wellness. You can even make it a lucrative career, earning money and free oils along the way.

Thieves: Nothing Sneaky About It

First off, why on earth is it called “Thieves”? This essential oil blend was created from research based on legends of a group of 15th century thieves who rubbed botanicals on themselves to avoid contact with the plague when they robbed the bodies of the dead. When they were apprehended, they were forced to tell their secret, and disclosed the formula in exchange for more lenient punishment.

A dark beginning for such a sunny combination! Thieves is a blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary, and is used extensively for its cleaning power and spicy scent. A long list of Young Living products include Thieves, including dish soap, laundry detergent, toothpaste, dishwasher detergent, foaming hand soap, mouthwash, waterless hand cleaner, and the ever-popular household cleaner. I combine a capful of Thieves Household Cleaner with 2-3 cups of water in a squirt bottle for a safe substitute for cleaning countertops and spills. For degreasing, use the same amount of cleaner with less water. Economical, and best of all, it's safe to use around my cats.

I could go on all day about the virtues of Thieves. Here are Young Living's instructions:

Topical: Dilute 1 drop with 4 drops of V-6™ or olive oil. Test on small area of skin on underside of arm. Apply to desired area as needed.

Aromatic: Diffuse up to 10 minutes 3 times daily.

Stress Away: On a Tropical Island

Just thinking about the ingredients of Stress Away has me singing Jake's song from Adventure Time in my head: “On a tropical island, on a tropical island…” (If you don't know what I'm talking about, just nod and smile, or watch this video.) This blend contains a unique combination of Lime essential oil and Vanilla extract, as well as Copaiba, Lavender, Cedarwood and Ocotea. All of these come together in a soothing and perfectly balanced aroma of tropical and citrus notes.

Stress Away is easily my favorite and most diffused oil. Daily stress and tension just melt away when I diffuse this blend. I use it in the car, at work and at home to improve my mental attitude and to relax so I can do my best. It makes a great perfume, too! Just dab it on your wrists.

Young Living's instructions:

Topical: Shake well and apply generously on wrists or back of neck as desired.
Aromatic: Diffuse up to 1 hour 3 times daily.

RC: Respiratory Comfort

This refreshing and powerful blend combines Spruce, Cypress and three types of Eucalyptus oils. When diffused, the aroma encourages motivation and supports the respiratory system. Keep going even when the sniffles attack with an inhalation or application of R.C.

Young Living suggests combining R.C. with V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex for an invigorating massage. A few drops in a hot bath or shower combine with the steam for an invigorating and powerful experience. Yes, I repeated invigorating–there's no other word to describe it!

Young Living's instructions for R.C.:

Topical: Dilute 1 drop with 1 drop of V-6 or olive oil and apply to desired area as needed.

Aromatic: Diffuse up to 30 minutes three times daily.

Purification: Does What It Says–and More

Purification is a blend of six essential oils: Citronella, Lavandin, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Myrtle, and Tea Tree. Together, the effect is greater than the sum of their parts. Once you start using it, you'll reach for Purification again and again to freshen the air wherever you are. Use in your car USB diffuser to get rid of stale fast food smells, or in your home to disperse cooking and pet odors.

Young Living's instructions:

Topical: Apply 2-4 drops directly to desired area. Dilution not required, except for the most sensitive skin. Use as needed.

Aromatic: Diffuse up to 30 minutes 3 times daily.
